Italian Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer is a delicious dairy creamer that’s sweetened and flavored with both vanilla and almond syrups.
My homemade version features whipping cream so it tastes a bit like almond-flavored melted ice cream. Yum!
A splash of Italian sweet cream creamer is absolutely delicious in any type of coffee drink, hot or cold.
My favorite way to use this creamer is to add a splash to cold brew coffee. Homemade pumpkin spice creamer and white chocolate coffee syrup are delicious, too!
Unlike store-bought non-dairy coffee creamer, this recipe has real cream and milk so it’s also great for making lattes.
If Italian Sweet Cream is your go-to coffee creamer or you’re looking for a new flavor to try, I’ve got great news. It’s incredibly easy to make!

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Heavy Cream
- Milk
- Sugar
- Water
- Vanilla Extract
- Almond Extract
Heavy Cream and Milk. My recipe for Italian sweet cream creamer features real cream and milk from the dairy section. Most other homemade recipes have sweetened condensed milk in them.
The heavy cream gives the creamer a more natural whipped-cream like flavor, and the milk thins it out a little bit.
Since this Italian sweet cream recipe isn’t weighed down by rich sweetened condensed milk, it froths really well, just like my recipe for Starbucks vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
Sugar and Water. The Italian sweet cream coffee creamer gets its sweetness from homemade simple syrup. The syrup is simply equal parts sugar and water.
Vanilla and Almond Extracts. Italian sweet cream gets it’s flavor notes from a combination of vanilla and almond extracts.
The extracts, sugar and water may be substituted with store-bought vanilla simple syrup and almond simple syrup. Use 3 tablespoons of each.

My Mason Jar Pick
I love this fluted mason jar. It holds 16 ounces which is perfect for homemade coffee creamer. (Black lid in pics is sold separately.)
Mess-free Pouring
I’m obsessed with this flip top spout! You can turn any mason jar into a reusable bottle— ideal for homemade coffee creamers and syrups.
Difference between Sweet Cream and Italian Sweet Cream Coffee Creamers
Traditional sweet cream coffee creamer is flavored and sweetened with vanilla simple syrup.
Whereas, Italian sweet cream creamer is a combination of vanilla syrup and almond syrup. The nuttiness of the almond is a delicious complement to coffee.
How to Make Thicker Italian Sweet Cream
In my opinion, everyday coffee creamers shouldn’t be thick and goopy. I save that for special treats like a pumpkin spice latte flavored with homemade Starbucks pumpkin spice syrup!
For a thicker version of Italian sweet cream creamer, substitute 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk for the heavy cream and increase the amount of milk to 1 1/2 cups.
